I didn’t always want to be a wedding photographer. When I was a kid, I went to them almost begrudgingly. Weddings were something to get through, hoping to get a good piece of cake at the end.

A couple of years ago, C.J. had a friend insist he shoot his wedding. Knowing I had shot for a few years, C.J. convinced me that I should help him out. Throughout that wedding day, we had numerous people asking how long we had done wedding photography. Apparently we gave off a vibe that we knew what we were doing.

From there, we kept getting referrals from people, and requests for how much we charge. So, we started Mosaic Photo.

We’ve learned a lot since then. And I actually really like taking pictures at weddings. It’s great be a part of a day that mean so much to so many people. I love the quick pace, meeting people, and creating beautiful photographs that a bride and groom enjoy for their lives together.

Mosaic Photo is proud to provide full service wedding photography in Wichita, Kansas. But Laura’s sister, who happened to be a friend of mine in high school, got married in Winnipeg at the beginning of January. So, we had the privilege of driving up to Canada in the dead of winter to take wedding photos. Really, we had a great time. Even though it was so cold that our tire lost pressure and came off the rim.

The wedding was beautiful. It was held at a golf course southwest of Winnipeg. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the day. Since it’s not every day we shoot outside of Kansas, there are quite a few.

See all of these and still want to see more? Here are the rest of Dave and Lisa’s wedding photos.

Jessi and Josh’s wedding was very relaxed, and go with the flow. Definitely fitting. I had shot their engagement photos a while back. They’re a very fun couple, and some of the most hilarious folk you’ll ever meet.

It’s always nice when the bride and groom get quite a bit of time for just the pictures of the two of them together. Since Jessi and Josh saw each other before hand, I dragged them down by the river for some portraits of the two of them.

It was a beautiful autumn day, especially back in the trees. Here are some of my favorite pictures.

Take a look at the rest of their wedding pictures here.

We also did the Photo Booth at their wedding.

Great blog post explaining a lot about the complexity of wedding photography

I’m always trying to learn more about what we do, how to interact better with our clients, and how to produce a better product. A while back, I was reading a blog I frequent a lot, when I saw a post about hiring a wedding photographer.

MyDeeJay.com had an article on questions to ask a wedding photographer and what to look for in some one to trust with your wedding photos. I thought it was worth sharing, so here it is: Hiring a Wedding Photographer.

The article is mainly comprised of questions the author asks DC area photographers. Questions like “What are the advantages of having a ’second shooter’ to assist the photographer?” and  ”What are the differences between the major styles of wedding photography?”

At the bottom, there are several questions posed to a photographer. Definitely worth a look if you’re looking for a wedding photographer.

And of course, we’ll be glad to answer any questions you have.

More wedding photography from Jordan and Emily’s wedding

I wrote a while back about Emily and Jordan’s wedding pictures. Here are some more photos from that day.
