Senior portraits with Jacque

In the previous post, I shared some photos processed with high contrast black and white photos, and some others that were more muted tones.

Now, here are some more of my favorites.  There are some of what I call my normal processing – which is usually characterized by vivid colors and looks very similar to the image that comes straight out of the camera.  This time, I also processed some images with high saturation, but I also shifted the contrast way out to the extreme.  For the first time in a while, I’m finally happy with a sepia tone, and some of those images are included here too.

Some favorites from a recent senior portrait session

Here are some of my favorite shots of Jacque, a senior at Northwest high school. We went to downtown Wichita for her senior portrait session.  I decided to split this into two parts, showing 5 different processing styles. This week, some high contrast black and white, and then warm, muted tones. Next time: bright and vivid, vivid with very high contrast, and a sepia tone that I’m finally happy with.

Spring Break has been busy for us

First, C.J. and Laura are off on a missions trip to Albania. They’re armed with a Canon G9 and a speedlite.  I’ll make C.J. share some of his favorites when he gets back.

Monday, I had a senior portrait session with a student from Northwest High school. We went down by the Hyatt and walking around downtown Wichita. It was a beautiful day and I’m excited about the results. I’ll share more after I deliver the images.

So that’s what Mosaic Photo has been up to – more to come soon!

I seem to photograph shoes…

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I learn a lot about photography by experimenting.  Last May, I took a picture of my new shoes:

Shoe.

Then, I recently needed another pair of running shoes (since I misplaced one). So, with my new camera, I took a picture of them. Click through to see the lighting setup.

From the Future!

I like the result, and think I’ve grown as a photographer over that time. So that’s good – I’ll have to keep experimenting!

Laura’s first solo shoot

Back in the fall, Laura took some senior portraits. It was her first time shooting by herself on something, and she did great! Laura definitely has a vision for each picture, and she pulled them off in an amazing fashion.

Laura and I processed them together (which we often do). We both have similar tastes, and we tend to complement each other.  We’ll both notice different things about an image and work together to perfect the image in our post work and final edit selections.  The result is an image that is carefully thought through.

Here are some of my favorites from Laura’s senior picture shoot with Katalina.
